  1. With the PES doing quite a bit worse than last time in Belgium, I’m of course disappointed, but we did have a bit of the “verhofstadt” effect and so we lost many of our votes to a very strong liberal candidate.

  2. The results of the left in Europe are disappointing. We are worse than in 2004. Now, in a moment of unprecedented economical and social crisis, we should have won with a landslide. Instead, our offer was not solid enough, our communication with the citizens was bad. We are afraid to really promote our values, we make too many concessions with the right and we promise anything to the voters only to get elected. Our message is not clear enough, our image is not “cool”. We forgot the doctrine and become a “catch-all” political force. This cannot work on a long run. We can truly be a strong movement if we promote our values with every occasion, if we take socialist measures when we are in government, if we are not shamed of our orientation but proud of its ideals! We need more PES and less compromises!
