Should Central Banks Have An Unemployment Target?

There was an interesting discussion on the Real News Network about whether central banks, in this case the Federal Reserve, should have an unemployment target rather than just sticking to inflation targets regardless of what is happening on the labour market. The programme also discusses the limits of what central banks can do if commercial banks just won’t inject liquidity into the economy. This issue will for sure be with us in 2013 too.
