This year’s edition of the ETUI’s flagship publication provides ample evidence that Europe is falling apart as a result of the EU leaders’ austerity mania.
In its six chapters the authors of the report highlight growing divergences between member state countries in the areas of macro-economic developments, labour markets, collective bargaining, energy policies and respect for social dialogue. These divergences are in stark contrast to the original values of European integration and convergence. In its introduction the publication warns for anti-European populism with big negative impacts on the next European elections in 2014.
This eBook brings together the key contributions to the 'European Growth Project', jointly run by Social Europe Journal, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the Bertelsmann Stiftung, the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) and the Macroeconomic Institute of the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung (IMK).
Our project brought together leading international experts to discuss the prospects for new economic growth in the European Union and innovative new ways to achieve it, that at the same time allow the European Union to position itself for the new global economy we are entering.
